Kunlavut Vitidsarn is a high-achiever who doesn’t do ordinary.
At just 24 years old, the Thai sensation has rewritten the record books – again. On Sunday at KFF Singapore Open 2025, Vitidsarn delivered a masterclass against China’s Lu Guang Zu, sweeping the final 21-6 21-10 in just 37 minutes.
The victory marked his fourth title of the year, but more significantly, capped off a historic weekend that confirmed his ascent to the top of the world.
A day earlier, with a semifinal win over Lin Chun Yi, Vitidsarn secured a place in history as the first Thai men’s singles player to be world No.1. When the new rankings are released Tuesday, he will be confirmed a trailblazer not only for his country but for his generation – becoming the first men’s singles player born in the 2000s to reach the summit.
Yet for Vitidsarn, it’s never just about the accolades. His calm composure, even in victories, tells of a deeper mindset.
That focus on growth over glory has defined Vitidsarn’s career. From becoming the first athlete to win three consecutive World Junior Championships to claiming Thailand’s first men’s singles world title, his journey has been underlined by relentless ambition balanced by humility.
“Looking at all the players who’ve been there, let’s just say I’m proud of myself,” he reflected on the No.1 ranking after the final. “But of course, I’d like to continue to improve myself.”
And even as he wears the world No.1 crown, he sees pressure not as a burden but as fuel.
“Being the No.1, there will be pressure but that’s good because it gives me added motivation to win the tournaments I take part in.”
Such clarity is what keeps him winning. Vitidsarn has developed a deep sense of comfort on court.
“Nowadays, when I go to any tournament, I feel like each place is my home. That’s why I feel I can play a lot better,” he said.
Such was his dominance in Singapore that Vitidsarn didn’t drop a single game all week. And the momentum is steering him nicely toward a greater target in Paris this August.
“I take this as one of the trainings before I go to the World Championships. I feel every tournament is part of the lessons that helped me to grow to play better.”
Driven by self-improvement, inspired by competition and powered by belief, Vitidsarn stands not just at the top of the world but on the threshold of something even greater.
Kunlavut Vitidsarn doesn’t do ordinary, he builds history.
