Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje struggled to come to terms with what they had accomplished in four successive weeks in Asia – they’d won three titles and been in the semifinals of one.
Yesterday, in the final of the POLYTRON Indonesia Open 2026, the Danes won their first HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 crown beating Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi 21-19 23-21.
Having won the TOYOTA Thailand Open (Super 500) and the KFF Singapore Open (Super 750), besides featuring in the semifinals of the PERODUA Malaysia Masters (Super 500), ascending the podium at the Indonesia Open was a stunning conclusion to their Asian leg in which they suffered just one defeat while winning 19 matches.
Overall, the year has seen them win four titles from seven finals.
“Absolutely amazing,” said Christiansen. “Even though we were incredibly happy when we won in Thailand, and even more in Singapore, but to win three times in four weeks, that’s just insane. I would never have thought that was even possible for us. So, yeah, it’s crazy.”
“Right now it’s just like one big like mess, because I can’t really separate it right now,” added Boje, “A month later, when we look back at this like crazy, crazy time in our career… right now it’s the peak, so we are so proud and happy with our month here in Asia.”
