A mainstay on the badminton circuit since 2009, here are some standout facts and figures about the Super 500 PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2026.
If sixth seed Ratchanok Intanon captures her third title, she will become the second most successful singles player behind local icon Lee Chong Wei, who holds five.
It will also leave her as the record winner in her discipline. She is currently tied on two with Pusarla V. Sindhu and Wang Zhi Yi.
The Thai has a 100 per cent hit rate, winning both her finals in 2018 and 2019.
But no more than four nations – Denmark, China, Malaysia and Japan – have produced winners across the last two editions.
Fifth seed Li Shi Feng is the onlydefending champion in this year’s draw.
He secured China’s first men’s singles title at the tournament by defeating Kidambi Srikanth in the 2025 final.
The last six men’s singles titles, however, have been lifted by players from six countries.
Li’s compatriot Chen Yu Fei stands alone as the top seed with previous triumph. She won in 2020.
Although Dechapol Puavaranukroh starts as the No.1 seed in mixed doubles with Supissara Paewsampran, his victory in 2023 was achieved alongside Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
Puavaranukroh could emulate Zheng Si Wei – the most recent player to win the same category with a second partner. Zheng repeated his 2016 success with Li Yin Hui four years later with Huang Ya Qiong.
Arisa Igarashi meanwhile, will become the first player in 11 years to top the women’s doubles podium as a mixed doubles champion (alongside Yuta Watanabe in 2019) should she triumph with Chiharu Shida. Christinna Pedersen was the last to achieve the feat, doing so at the same edition in 2015.
Ng Ka Long Angus (2017), H.S Prannoy (2023), Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi and Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai (both 2024) are the other former titlistsin the draw.
This will be Ng’s 12th Malaysia Masters appearance, the highest by any player.
Glory in men’s doubles will see hosts Malaysia draw level with Indonesia on six all-time titles in the department. Indonesia may not have a seeded pair this year but Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin arrive in form after winning the Thailand Open last week.
Standout Stat: France are the second European nation after Denmark to start with two seeded men’s singles players – Christo Popov (3) and Alex Lanier (7).
