“I can’t believe I did it. I’m just happy and excited,” said Su. “In the final game, we both were tired, so I told myself to keep the focus and keep pushing myself, and to trust myself.

“I’m very proud of myself. I worked very hard, I really wanted to win a World Tour title. This is my first World Tour title. I trust and believe that I can win more.”

Christophersen was thrilled to prevail in her first final of the season.

“That’s crazy and I’m really happy right now. I’m just glad that I came out with a win. In the third game I tried to relax and keep pushing. I always fight. When the last point came, everything was just amazing.”

Three in a row for Nakade/Takahashi

The Japanese women’s doubles pair of Sumire Nakade/Miyu Takahashi won their third tournament in a row, beating Lin Chih-Chun/Yang Chu Yun 21-16 21-10.

For Takahashi, it was her fourth final of the year as she had made the Indonesia Masters 2026 final with Arisa Igarashi.

Nakade/Takahashi have unbeaten in three tournaments, winning the Orleans Masters (against Lin/Yang), the Baoji China Masters, and now the US Open.

“We’re so happy,” said Takahashi. “We’d played them two months ago, but they played differently today, so we’re happy to win.

“We didn’t want to show our stress to our opponents. Our opponents are powerful, so we had to go on the attack first.”

What They Said

“I just feel like whatever I’ve been doing is working. I just have to keep working hard. I feel I’m there, but it’s about winning those crucial points. He (Su Li Yang) has been playing really well over the last few months. It’s a day when he played exceptionally well during the points that mattered.” – Kidambi Srikanth

“The key was focus. I lost it when I did two-three mistakes in a row. I tried to change tactics, but I had to continue to do the same thing. I did so many mistakes. I take only positives, because it was my first World Tour final. I showed that I have improved.” – Kaloyana Nalbantova

“We’re very happy because this is our first title and we’re a new pair. We’ve barely trained together, so I’m very surprised. Our communication was getting better and better with every match. My highlight was taking off the shirt after winning the match. I’d taken it off during the Thomas Cup too, so my teammates told me I had to do the same if I won this match.” – Liu Kuang Heng

“It was tough from the beginning. But we just had to help each other. The key was that despite not being at 100 per cent, we hung in there, so I’m happy. We looked calm on the outside, but inside we were nervous.” – Kyohei Yamashita
