Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is back in the Malaysia Masters main draw.
The Indonesian has been promoted from the qualifying rounds following the withdrawals of the top two seeds – Shi Yu Qi and Anders Antonsen. It will mark Ginting’s first appearance at the event since his Round of 16 defeat to Weng Hong Yang in 2023.
The former world No.2, who is continuing his comeback from injury, made his tournament debut in 2015 and achieved his best result two years later, losing in the semifinals to Ng Ka Long Angus.
Ginting will open his campaign on Wednesday against local hope Justin Hoh. His compatriot Jonatan Christie now occupies Shi’s Position 1 in the draw as a result of the Seed Withdrawal Movement.
In women’s doubles, home favourites and top seeds Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan have also pulled out from the tournament.
