Indonesia Masters: Letshanaa, Teeraratsakul Impress

Letshanaa Karupathevan and Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul will contest the biggest semifinals of their careers after extending their impressive runs at DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters 2026 on Friday.

Malaysian Letshanaa, 22, stormed into her maiden Super 500 semifinal with a 21-17 21-18 victory over Huang Yu-Hsun, a day after similarly ousting sixth seed Michelle Li in straight games. The achievement ends Malaysia’s wait for a women’s singles semifinalist at this level since Goh Jin Wei’s run at the Hong Kong Open in 2023.

Teeraratsakul followed suit in the next match on Court 3, knocking out seventh seed Lakshya Sen 21-18 22-20. The 21-year-old Thai, who had never progressed beyond the quarterfinals on the HSBC BWF World Tour, already defeated established shuttlers Lee Chia Hao and Lee Zii Jia in earlier rounds.

Joining him in her own first Super 500 semis is his young countrywoman Pitchamon Opatniputh, whose 18-21 26-24 21-12 win over seasoned Vietnamese Nguyen Thuy Linh made her Letshanaa’s next opponent, with the two set to meet for the first time.

There was no such joy for Letshanaa’s compatriots Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun, however, as their title defence was halted by Sabar Karyawaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 22-20 21-19. Their reward is an all-Indonesian clash with rising tandem Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, who came from behind to stun their in-form seniors Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 18-21 21-19 21-14.

Teeraratsakul overcome by emotion after winning.
