Playing their first tournament together in over a year, Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra BØje reached the final of the SANDS CHINA LTD Macau Open 2025 beating top seeds Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei.
The Danes last played together at the Canada Open in July 2024 where they reached the final, but had to miss the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. While Christiansen has been out of international action since then, Boje combined with Robin Tabeling.
In the semifinals on Saturday, Christiansen and Boje showed that they are still a formidable pair as the former world No.8 pair recovered from the loss of the opening game to outplay Chen/Toh 15-21 21-17 21-11.
Their compatriot Line Christophersen had earlier made the women’s singles final, recovering from 5-11 and 8-14 down in the third game to beat Riko Gunji. This is the Dane’s first final in over a year. Christophersen has a difficult challenge up next, as she faces top seed Chen Yu Fei.

Despite Chen/Toh’s loss, it was a good day for Malaysia as they are in the hunt for three titles. Justin Hoh overcame surprise semifinalist Tharun Mannepalli in 81 minutes to set up a final with Alwi Farhan, who had a surprisingly comfortable victory over Lakshya Sen, 21-16 21-9.
In mixed doubles, Jimmy Wong/Lai Pei Jing, who came together in March, made their first World Tour final and their fourth overall this year. The Malaysians held off Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah 21-18 21-16.
Men’s doubles will see Malaysia’s Arif Junaidi/Roy King Yap take on Indonesia’s Sabar Gutama/Moh Reza Isfahani.
