Top seed Beiwen Zhang will look to recapture the YONEX US Open title after a decade when she starts her campaign at the 2025 edition that begins today.
Zhang, winner in 2014, nearly re-accomplished that feat last year, but fell in a thrilling 72-minute final to Natsuki Nidaira, 24-22 in the third game.
The top seed, currently ranked No.21, will fancy her chances of topping the podium this time, with her top challengers likely to be No.2 Nguyen Thuy Linh and No.8 seed Nozomi Okuhara.

In men’s singles, former No.1 Kidambi Srikanth will seek to maintain the upswing in his recent fortunes.
Currently ranked No.50, Kidambi had a prolonged struggle with form and fitness before dramatically turning it around at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters last month when he made the final after starting in the qualifying draw, and beating players like Lu Guang Zu, Nhat Nguyen, Toma Junior Popov and Yushi Tanaka on the way.
The Indian, in the same quarter as third seed Brian Yang, takes on Harry Huang in his opening encounter.
Two of his compatriots too will look to make an impact in a draw that has few heavyweights. World No.34 Ayush Shetty, who created a sensation at the YONEX Taipei Open by reaching the semifinals with victories over Lee Chia Hao, Kidambi and Brian Yang, starts against Magnus Johanessen. Sixth seed Priyanshu Rajawat, who has had a series of below-par results this season, will look to reverse his fortunes when he starts his campaign against a qualifier.
Heading the draw will be Chou Tien Chen, who returns to action not long after an impressive run to the title round of the KAPAL API Indonesia Open earlier this month.
