The Badminton World Federation and Badminton Canada have agreed for the YONEX Canada Open to become a Super 300 tournament on the HSBC BWF World Tour for seasons 2025 and 2026.

The tournament was previously a Super 500 event in 2023 and 2024.

Due to unforeseen economic challenges, Badminton Canada concluded it was no longer feasible to deliver the requirements of a Super 500 tournament.

Shifting the tournament to a Super 300 level continues Badminton Canada’s commitment to growing the excitement for the sport across the country and ensuring an ongoing world-class badminton presence in North America.

To support this move to a Super 300 tournament, Badminton Canada is moving the event to the Markham Pan Am Centre in Markham, Ontario.
