Swiss Open: Tough Opener for Vitidsarn

World champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn faces an opponent who hit peak form last week as he takes on Lee Chia Hao in the opening round of the YONEX Swiss Open 2025 beginning today.

World No.22 Lee created a sensation at the All England by reaching the final, where he gave a great account of his abilities. With defending champion Lin Chun Yi and Korea Open 2024 champion Lu Guang Zu also in the top quarter of the draw, Vitidsarn faces a difficult path in his quest for a first Swiss Open title.

Lee coming off a runner-up finish in Birmingham.

In the bottom half of the draw, second seed Anders Antonsen will start against Hong Kong Open 2024 runner-up Lei Lan Xi.

Two past winners, Kidambi Srikanth (2015) and HS Prannoy (2016) will face each other in the opening round.

In women’s singles, fifth seed and 2019 champion Chen Yu Fei takes on Kirsty Gilmour in her opening round and will expect to run into second seed Supanida Katethong in the quarterfinals.

The interesting development in men’s doubles is the combination of Wang Chang with Liu Yi. The fifth seeded Chinese might be headed for a quarterfinal clash against in-form Malaysians Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.

Mixed doubles will see All England finalists Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui and Feng Yan Zhe/Wei Ya Xin in opposite halves of the draw, but Guo/Chen might be headed for a quarterfinal against compatriots Jiang Zhen Bang/Huang Dong Ping.
