Swiss Open: Tunjung to Face Marin in Final

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung made her first final of the year after beating Nozomi Okuhara at the YONEX Swiss Open 2024.

Tunjung, who had lost her previous two encounters to Okuhara and carried a 2-5 record going into Saturday’s semifinal, prevailed over the Japanese in 45 minutes, 21-15 21-17.

The Indonesian will face Carolina Marin, who is in her second final in two weeks. Marin overcame a testy phase against young Japanese Tomoka Miyazaki, who led her in both games before making a slew of errors.

The men’s singles final will be an all-Chinese Taipei affair between Chou Tien Chen and Lin Chun-Yi.

Both recovered from the loss of the opening game. Chou outplayed Rasmus Gemke 19-21 21-11 21-12, while Lin was able to overcome his opponent Kidambi Srikanth in the late stages of their semifinal.

Milestone for Lane/Vendy

The England pair beat Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 20-22 21-8 21-15 to prevent an all-Indonesia final after Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana had earlier made their way to the title round.
