Olympic champions Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan, whose careers took on different trajectories after their gold medal triumph at Paris 2024, have reunited for the SUWON VICTOR Korea Open 2025.

The four-time world champions did play together briefly after their gold medal win – at the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals last December (they automatically qualified as Olympic champions); at the Badminton Asia Championships 2025 this April, and at the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2025, where they played just one match.

This year, Jia has stitched up a solid partnership with Zhang Shu Xian; the pair won the LI-NING China Masters on Sunday. Chen, on the other hand, hasn’t had a particularly noteworthy period with her partners Wang Ting Ge and Keng Shu Liang.

It will therefore be interesting to see what’s in store for the Chen/Jia pair – will the Korea Open herald a fresh new chapter in their storied careers?

The fifth seeds, who won the Korea Open two years ago, take on Hsu Ya Ching/Sung Yu-Hsuan in the opening round, and are seeded to meet Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto in the quarterfinals.

In the absence of the other top pairs, No.5 Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi are top seeded, while China Masters runners-up Kim Hye Jeong/Kong Hee Yong are seeded second.
