Malaysia Masters: ‘I Hope More People Get To Know Bing Kun’

It was the last dance for the temporary partnership Loo Bing Kun and Toh Ee Wei at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2025.

They bowed out 21-19 20-22 18-21 to Chinese Taipei shuttlers Ye Hong Wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan.

Toh and Loo were paired temporarily for the YONEX Taipei Open 2025, TOYOTA Thailand Open 2025 and PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2025. Loo said he had humbly gained some key takeaways from his senior partner.

“It’s important to first build up our momentum in every game, no matter how strong your opponent is, you must not lose in spirit. As long as you’re willing to fight for it, you’ll achieve something,” said Loo.

“I’m grateful that she was willing to choose me as her partner. I’ve been able to learn a lot, compete at a higher level, and playing with more world-class opponents, it’s a very valuable experience.”

Toh added: “I hope more people can get to know Bing Kun as he plays with great fighting spirit. I really hope he can perform well in the future.”

Showdown 20: Yamaguchi vs Okuhara

Old foes Okuhara and Yamaguchi go at it again.

Akane Yamaguchi and Nozomi Okuhara clashed for the 20th time in their careers with two-time world champion Yamaguchi prevailing 18-21 26-24 21-3.

“She knows how to fight against me in particularly,” said Yamaguchi.

“And I have to admit that it actually worked against me today. By the end of second game I was almost giving up.”

Only Okuhara’s suspect knee failing her in the last game. The head-to-head now reads 11-9 Okuhara.

Yamaguchi faces China’s Gao Fang Jie in the quarterfinals.

Doubles Delight for Ramadhanti

Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti marched into two quarterfinals acing both her mixed and women’s doubles conquests.

Pairing with Dejan Ferdinansyah, the mixed doubles pair defeated Chinese duo Chen Fang Hui and Guo Xin Wa 21-15 24-22.

She then carried that momentum into the evening women’s doubles combining with Lanny Tria Mayasari to defeat Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida 19-21 21-19 21-15.

“We’ve lost to Matsuyama and Shida twice before, so we’ve been studying them and we’re very happy to come away with our first win against them.

“We had nothing to lose because the Japanese pair were the favourites and they are an exceptional pair.

“Although we had some lapses in concentration in certain parts of the match, we just tried our best to keep our focus as much as possible,” said Ramadhanti after her second win.
