Singaporean men’s singles shuttler Jia Heng Jason Teh won his first ever HSBC BWF World Tour title at the PRINCESS SIRIVANNAVARI Thailand Masters 2025.
Playing against China’s Wang Zheng Xing, Teh claimed a tight first game 21-18, lost the second 15-21 but made a strong comeback in the rubber game 21-19, to clinch his breakthrough victory.
“It means a lot to me because I’ve lost 5 or 6 finals last year and never won a title before,” he said after a hard fought match.
“This is my first (title) so I’m very happy to be able to win the title today.”
His achievement comes after two losses in finals of Macau Open 2024 and Syed Modi India International 2024. He also became the first Singaporean to top a HSBC BWF World Tour podium after world No.11 Loh Kean Yew won the Spain Masters in March 2024.
Teh’s world ranking has climbed to No.30 after the triumph.
It was also a meaningful day for hometown hero Pornpawee Chochuwong, ending her title drought of almost two years defeating Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, 18-21 21-16 21-13 in the women’s singles final.
“I’m very happy to be the champion in my home ground,” said Chochuwong. “It’s an amazing win for me.”
Korea’s men’s doubles star Seo Seung Jae clinched another title, this time with Jin Yong, defeating Indonesian duo Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin 21-18 21-17.
Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti had a busy weekend winning through to both the women’s and mixed doubles finals. It was disappointment in the mixed doubles, with her and partner Dejan Ferdinansyah losing out to Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran 19-21 21-17 21-13.
However, she bounced back with Lanny Tria Mayasari to defeat another Thai pair Laksika Kanlaha/Phataimas Muenwong 15-21 21-13 21-8.
