China’s Han Qian Xi, playing only her second senior international tournament outside her country, upset top seed Tomoka Miyazaki to make the final of the Korea Masters 2024.
Han, winner of the Baoji China Masters 2024 (Super 100) in August, swept past Miyazaki after a close opening game, 21-18 21-8.
In the final the Chinese takes on Putri Kusuma Wardani, who reached her third final from her last six events. While Han will be looking for her first HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 title, Wardani will hope to win her first Super 300 since the Spain Masters victory in May 2021.
In men’s singles, world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn moved to within one win of his season’s first title. The top seed led for the most part against Kiran George before the Indian ran him close in the second game, with Vitidsarn making it through 21-12 22-20.
The Thai will have to contend with world No.55 Wang Zheng Xing, who is in his fourth final of the year. Winner of the Ruichang China Masters and runner-up at the Baoji China Masters and the Vietnam Open – all Super 100 events – Wang beat local hope Cho Geong Yeop 9-21 21-15 21-10 to enter the first Super 300 final of his career.
