Australian Open: Lee Moves to Top Half

Men’s singles third seed Lee Zii Jia has taken Jonatan Christie’s place in the top half of the SATHIO GROUP Australian Open 2024 main draw following the top seed’s withdrawal.

The new draw management regulations specify that a top seed who withdraws shall be replaced by a remaining seed in the next seeding group (No.3-4). Lee is the only seed left in that group after Christie’s compatriot Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, whose spot has gone to Chou Tien Chen, also pulled out.

Kodai Naraoka (No.2) is now the highest remaining seed in the men’s singles draw.

Lee, semifinalist last year, has thus a first career meeting with Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian in the opening round on Wednesday.

Other withdrawals:

Women’s singles

  1. Akane Yamaguchi (top seed)

Women’s doubles

  1. Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida (top seeds)
  2. Rui Hirokami/Yuna Kato (fifth seeds)

Promotions:

Men’s singles

  1. Enrico Asuncion
  2. Ricky Tang

Women’s singles

  1. Yu Chien Hui
