Indonesia Open: Lee Handed Sen Opener

Lee Zii Jia and Lakshya Sen have been drawn to face each other in the Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2023 first round.

The men’s singles stars last contested a match in the Thomas Cup quarterfinal in Bangkok in 2022. Lee won 23-21 21-9 but India advanced with a 3-2 victory. Sen and India went on to become champions for the first time in competition history.

Although Lee is seeded eighth, in the head-to-head, Sen leads his Malaysian rival 2-1.

Other interesting opening round matchups include three-time winners Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo taking on world No.5s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty and twice world champions Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara playing eighth seeds Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong.
