Indonesia Masters: ‘Inactive’ Yet Incredible

First the fifth seeds, then the third seeds and now the top seeds.

Kim Hye Jeong/Jeong Na Eun continued their remarkable DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters 2021 run by defeating compatriots Kim Soyeong/Kong Heeyong 21-12 21-18 in the semifinals.

The world No.168 Koreans, who have been inactive on the circuit since November 2019, took 63 minutes to qualify for the biggest final of their careers.

The win makes them the lowest ranked finalists of a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event.

“I would say this ranks pretty highly in our careers,” giggled Jeong post-match.

Jeong/Kim are through to their first Super 750 final are defeating their compatriots.

“We knew we were the underdogs going into this match. We didn’t feel the burden at all so I think that’s how we won.”

“We really just wanted to do our best. Today’s opponents were really tough but we kept calm. We’re really happy to be in the final,” exclaimed Kim.

“We know that either pair is really strong and we will go into the match with positive thoughts,” said Jeong.
